The STACKIT Telemetry Router is a fully managed cloud service that serves as a central ingestion and distribution point for telemetry data. It provides complete control over your Audit Logs across STACKIT services, ensuring a reliable and standardized data stream to the destination of your choice.
Key Features
Section titled “Key Features”- Centralized Aggregation: Collects audit data from various STACKIT products in one centralized location.
- Format Standardization: Natively receives and routes data in the standardized OpenTelemetry (OTLP) format, maintaining consistency for modern observability stacks without needing extra translation.
- Flexible Routing: Route your data to internal STACKIT services (such as STACKIT Logs, Object Storage, or Observability) or to external destinations (like Splunk and Elasticsearch) via OTLP.
- Reliable Delivery: Guarantees ‘at-least-once’ delivery by utilizing retry mechanisms and flow control.
- Data Flow & Storage: The Telemetry Router acts primarily as a forwarder rather than a long-term storage layer. However, as a built-in convenience, you can view your audit logs for the last 90 days for free directly via the STACKIT Portal.
Scope and Limitations
Section titled “Scope and Limitations”- Supported Data Types: Currently, the service exclusively handles Audit Logs. Customers cannot send their own custom telemetry data (application logs, metrics, or traces) to the router; only STACKIT products have this capability.
- Destination Formats: For external routing, the router currently supports Object Storage (S3) and the OTLP protocol.
- Availability: The service is Generally Available (GA) in the regions EU01 (Germany) and EU02 (Austria).
- Pricing: Routing data to both internal STACKIT services and external destinations incurs fees.
